Gainesville Photography Club

The Gainesville Photography Club will have its monthly meeting at 7 PM, Monday, June 21 at the Civitan Regional Blood Center, 1221 NW 13th St., Gainesville (see the map on the Meetings page).  The theme for June is "Patterns" (see "themes" page).  You can also bring color and monochrome photos in the General Category.  There will be a short business meeting and there also may be a  presentation yet to be determined.  After the program we will share our best theme photos.  Guests are always welcome at club meetings and can show up to 8 digital pictures.  Your work will not be judged, but will be critiqued

CreativeLIVE.com is offering a free photography course with noted wildlife and nature photographer Art Wolfe. "Drawing form 36 years of international travel, Art will delve into a range of composition secrets. From discovering the subject to elements of design and lighting. Imagery of nature, wildlife and the world's varied landscapes will round out the curriculum to provide a comprehensive and imaginative course."

Ropin' is all fast moving action! For the photographer this presents several challenges. The first is fast focussing. For this event the best point of view availabe was with the action coming towards the camera. This means the focussing distance is constantly and rapidly changing - so forget a point and shoot! What you need is a digital SLR with AI Servo AF. Fast, accurate focussing is also assisted with large aperture (f/2.8 or wider) lens.
