Gainesville Photography Club Meeting
The third Monday of each month Gainesville Photography Club meets at the Civitan Regional Blood Center at 7 PM. Guests are welcome at our meetings and can bring a few of their best photos on a flash drive. We meet on the second floor in the NE corner of the building. December is our End-of-Year meeting which is a bit different than usual.
DINNER: For this meeting on Monday evening, Dec. 15 we will meet a 6 PM (NOT 7 PM) for a casual dinner and conversation. Please bring a side dish and/or dessert. Dick and Tila will bring meat and drinks. Please contact Tila at tilaanddick@juno.com to let her know what you will bring so we don't all show up with a bag of chips.
PICTURES: Our End-of-Year meeting has no theme. Bring whatever - your best from 2008, new images, or a slideshow of a favorite subject. If you show individual pictures, bring about 10 to 12 of your best stuff. We will not critique your photos so send us a few more than usual. If you do a slideshow, limit time to 5-6 minutes. That's about 50 pictures with a music background or about 30 pictures if you narrate your show. Narrated shows always run long! Try them at home so you are sure to meet this time constraint. As usual, send your pictures or slideshows to our Gmail acct before the meeting so we can preload them on the computer. As a last resort, bring them on a CD or flash drive. Please send them no later than the Sat. before the meeting. We will NOT be checking for pictures after Saturday.
Email photos to gainesvillephotoclub@gmail.com. Please send all photos in a single email and be sure to label each photo with your name. Sending photos ahead of time really smooths projection at the meeting. Instructions for resizing photos using Photoshop Elements can be found under "Tutorials".
BUSINESS: We will have a business meeting. Our Bylaws require election of 2009 officers at this meeting. Please think about this!! Are you willing to serve? Who would you nominate? Do not simply expect the same people to serve again in 2009. The more members who have direct input into our club operations, the better and stronger our club will be. 2008 has been a good year with new Bylaws and organizational structure, new web site and e-mail account, meeting notices in the Gainesville Sun, several new members, new procedures for submitting your photos and an overall improved quality of images. Still, there is still a lot to be done. As outgoing President, Phil will offer some goals for 2009.
Now, let's have a bang-up End-of-Year party.
